Nottinghamshire’s Rainbow Heritage is a project sponsored by the Heritage Lottery Fund. It started in January 2008 and will run for at least three years. It celebrates Nottinghamshire’s Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender (LGBT) lives, hidden history and culture.

It organises events: exhibitions; displays; workshops and training. Many of the events coincide with either Nottingham Pride Festival (each July) and LGBT History Month (each February). It gathers audio and video recordings of LGBT people’s experiences and opinions. It also gathers artefacts and memorabilia: photos, badges, flyers for events, newspaper cuttings, documents from social/support groups etc
